My chrome book has been frozen for 3+ hours. If Chrome is completely frozen and you can't close one or more of its open windows, you may need to forcefully quit the application in macOS or Windows. When something is amiss on your Chromebook and you need to force quit an app, hit Shift-Escape. You've reset your Chromebook! Bonus Tip: You can also reset your Chromebook from the sign-on screen by pressing After it’s completely off, simply just press it again to turn it back on and go from there. When the window opens it will ask how much you want to delete. Screen is totally frozen in the on position. Choose your browser from the list and force close the Google Chrome. To fix some Chromebook problems, you might need to reset your Chromebook hardware, also called a hard reset. Now, restart your Chrome browser and it should work normally. Other times, the Chromebook is on, but is unresponsive or frozen. 
Chrome may be the most-used browser in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect.
